Think Pharmacy First - treatment for 7 common conditions without the need for a GP appointment
Going to your local pharmacy offers an easy and convenient way to get clinical advice on minor health concerns, and now community pharmacies can offer treatment for seven common conditions without patients needing to see a GP, as part of a major transformation in the way the NHS delivers care.
Highly trained pharmacists at more than nine in ten pharmacies can now assess and treat patients for earache, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis, sore throat, urinary tract infections (UTIs) for women aged 16-64 - without the need for a GP appointment or prescription.
Community pharmacy teams are highly-skilled, qualified health professionals who have the right clinical training to give people the health advice they need. Patients don't need an appointment and private consultation rooms are available. Pharmacy teams can also signpost to other relevant local services where necessary.
Pharmacists have always helped patients, families and carers in their communities stay healthy and are well-placed to offer treatment for health conditions. By expanding the services community pharmacies offer, the NHS is aiming to free up GP appointments and give people more choice in how and where they access care.
Don't wait for minor health concerns to get worse – think pharmacy first and get seen by your local pharmacy team.

When we offer you a telephone appointment our receptionists will let you know whether this will be in the morning, afternoon or evening. Unfortunately it is not possible to offer precisely timed appointments. On rare occasions when the surgery is very busy you may receive your call later in the day than you were expecting. Please accept our apologies if this happens.
We have a lot of requests for telephone consultations and we do ask that, if you make an appointment for a telephone consultation, you make sure you are by the phone and it is switched on ready for when we ring. We wul try to call you twice but if you have not answered the telephone, the request for a telephone consultation will be cancelled and you will need to rebook the appointment.
On Tuesday evenings we have a late surgery 18:30 - 20:00; this is especially useful for people who work full-time or are: otherwise unable to access the surgery during our normal hours of 08:00-18:30. The appointments are with both GPs and ANPs and can be face to face in the practice or via telephone depending on the problem you need to discuss.
You can now book to see a GP in the evening, at weekends and on bank holidays.
To book an appointment speak to our receptionists during practice opening hours or call 0151 652 6077 from 10:00 – 18:00 at weekends.

Please note the opening times and services offered at different venues will vary.
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will phone you first to understand what you need. We may be able to help you over the phone or may arrange for a home visit.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 8am as possible and no later than 11am.
Please note that home visits are only for people who are terminally ill or never leave the house. If you are able to leave the house to attend hospital/dental appointments etc then we would not consider you to be housebound.
